Things I Learned in Fourth Grade

This year in fourth grade, Ive learned A LOT. The first math term I know that I never knew before is grid multiplication. Grid multiplication is a longer, but easier method for two-digit multiplication. first make a 3×3 grid on your paper. Then, put an X in the top left corner. You’re now done with the grid! Now find a problem to work out. let’s use 11 x 11. Of course most people already know the answer to this problem, but let’s just use it as an example. Now, expand the two numbers. Put the ten on the right of the x and the other below the x. Now, do the same thing with the ones, except with the ten it goes with. Here’s the fun part! Now it’s a coordinate game! Find the numbers that line up, and then put the answers in the square it lines up with. Now, add up all of the squares to get your answer! The second math term I learned is improper fractions. Improper fractions are when the bigger number is on top instead of the bottom. Basically, it’s an all fraction version of a mixed number, like 1 1/2. That would be equal to the improper fraction of 3/2. So, in words that is three halves! Interesting, right? Anyway, the third math term I learned are angles. Angles are… well… They’re kinda like the hands of a clock. When one hand is pointed directly on the 9  and the other hand is pointed directly on the 12, that is a right angle. A right angle is EXACTLY 90 degrees. When one is pointed at the 9 and the other is between (but not exactly on) 12 & 3 then it is an obtuse angle. An obtuse angle is more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees. If one hand is between (but not exactly on) 9 & 12, then it is an acute angle. An acute angle is less than 90 degrees and more than 0 degrees. If the angle is completely straight, it is a straight angle. A straight angle is EXACTLY180 degrees. The next-to-last term I learned are mixed numbers. Mixed numbers are when a regular number is paired up with a fraction. There’s not much left to explain… all I have to show is my example, which is 4 3/4.

Dense Blazing Star Wildfower Research

Dense Blazing Star

My wildflower name is the Dense Blazing Star. Its sientific classification is Asteraceae, and its scientific name is Liatris Spicata. The Dense Blazing Star is native in New Jersey, Michigan, and Illinois. It’s also south to Florida and Louisiana. The bloom color of my wildflower is purple, and it blooms in July, August, and September. Its natural habitat has to be in moist wood openings, by mesic praries and marsh edges. This flower attracts butterflies, and hummingbirds seem to like this flower also. This flower is also very important to Bumble Bees.

Another Recipe!

What’s up!

I’ve got another recipe you will like!

Ingredients: 2-3 peices of Bacon, 2 peices of bread, ham, cheese, sauces (optional).

How to make a B.C.H

Step 1: Like making a regular sandwich, you will need bread.

Step 2: Now make a ham & cheese sandwich. But wait! You aren’t done yet!

Step 3: Cook the bacon and put it on the sandwich.

Step 4: Put the sauces, and even if you want, you can add more!

Willow Creek Home

Hey guys! (and gals) It’s me, Ryan! We finished a book we were reading in class called Willow Creek Home (you should read the series! the first book is called A Paradise Called Texas, the second book is Willow Creek Home, and the last one is Spirit of Iron.) and the teacher gave all of us the assignment to write your favorite part and upload your favorite illustration. (which I may or may not be doing because we have had problems with it)

SPOILER ALERT!

If you are interested in this series and want to read the book, DO NOT READ THIS UNTIL YOU’RE FINISHED!

I have arranged to make a countdown of awesome parts in the book!

#5 A cool part of the story that I liked is when the group of men, including Mina’s papa went to New Fredricksburg with clubs to get food.

#4 A very fun part of the story is related to my very favorite! It was when Papa brought back a diary for Mina.

#3 An exciting part of the story is when Mina was kidnapped! By Indians! It was so exciting and very cool!

#2 Another cool part is when Daniel took off his shirt and ripped it up to make a turnakit (a turnakit is a thing that stops blood flow so a wound won’t bleed out) and showed his muscular body, and most hilariously, Mina liked it!#1 My very favorite part of the whole series is when Papa brought home a beautiful kitten– and she named it Schnurri after Opa’s cat, Schnurri!
